The fluid reservoir is located on the firewall of the aircraft and holds an appropriate amount of fluid to adequately supply the brakes in most general aviation applications. A fluid reservoir can be designed with fluid level monitoring capabilities, such as the sight glass or an electrical sensor.

The more complex reservoir with a sight glass or electrical sensor is designed as such to accommodate customer requirements. The sight glass reservoir is a simple visual indicator used by the technician. The electrical sensor allows the aircraft to be wired with an indicator in the cockpit to alert the pilot.
